Every year it seems that winter comes upon us much too fast, and before you know it, you are breaking open the storage containers looking for your favorite pair of hats and gloves. Without proper preparation for the cold winter months, you may be left with head colds and other illnesses, which can be quite miserable.

The elusive American Dream is being redefined by many who no longer feel that owning a home is the symbol of ultimate achievement. So what's the ultimate goal for most Americans? A Credit.com survey revealed that most respondents (27.9%) said the American Dream is retiring financially secure at age 65. In second place, 23% described the American Dream as being debt-free. Other responses included: • Owning a home (18.2%) • Graduating college/paying off student loans (6.6%) • Joining the 1% (4.3%)

Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs are home to a number of well-established universities filled with students who likely need some form of housing. While many schools offer guaranteed housing every year, others do not. In these cases, young college students with little income are heading to Craigslist to search for affordable housing options.

While much of Pennsylvania seems to be losing ground in terms of job growth, Delaware County proves to be resilient according to an economic recovery report.  The report, titled "State of Working Pennsylvania 2013," was released earlier this month by Harrisburg-based think tank Keystone Research Center. The report focuses on employment statistics from December 2010 through July 2013, zeroing in on job statistics beginning 18 months after the end of the Great Recession.

It's summertime, which hopefully means it's vacation time. If you are a landlord, however, taking a vacation may be difficult, if not impossible.  Because being a landlord is an around the clock job, it's difficult to go on vacation. You are always on call, so if it's difficult for tenants to reach you, there could be a problem. If bills need to be paid or contractors need to be contacted at home, you may need to put a temporary landlord in your place.

Your property is your biggest asset. You put a great deal of time into maintaining your property investments, and sometimes it helps to hire a property management company to ease the stress. Unfortunately not all landlords and management companies deliver what you would expect.

Propertyware is the current software system that Rentwell utilizes to help maximize productivity and give owners the best experience and updates on their properties as well as how they are effectively being managed.

We previously have discussed the rising trend of required renters insurance, but plenty of people are still without insurance. In fact, a 2012 Insurance Institute poll conducted by ORC International found that while 96 percent of homeowners had homeowners insurance, only 31 percent of renters had renter insurance.
