Staging your home correctly is an essential part of getting it sold or rented. However, many believe that a property can't be properly done without being expensive, but that's just not true. Here are some tips you can use to improve your staging without ever opening your wallet.

1. Scrub Your Home There is no time when your home will be as closely inspected as when potential buyers or renters are viewing it. You'll need more than your average weekly cleaning to impress. Be sure to scrub appliances, clean windows and blinds, and dust door frames. A clean home gives the impression that your home is well taken care of.

2. Pack Up Personal Items It can be hard for others to see themselves living in a house when it's littered with others' belongings. If you're selling a family home, maybe leave out one or two nice family portraits. Pack away other photos and knick knacks to try and depersonalize the home a bit. If possible, it's a good idea to store these packed items off the property as every nook and cranny will be under inspection.

3. Lighten Your Home After all of that cleaning, be sure to show off your work. Open every curtain and turn on every light to make your home appear as bright as possible. After all, no one wants to live in a dark and dreary home.
